Opinion

It's my opinion that the use of photoshop is not much different than the use of the darkroom of the past. Yes you can do much more with photoshop. Yes what may have taken hours in the darkroom how takes minutes with photoshop. I also believe the main use of photoshop is to enhance an image and not totally change it.
As far as I know, the vision of the photographer starts in the camera and it's the vision of the photographer that continues to photoshop.

I would agree. I am a big fan of Photoshop and have used it since version 2.0.

I like to "create" in photoshop, but my goal is for the viewer to look at the photo and not know that photoshop was used. I think anyone can apply filters and make adjustments to a photo, but most of the time you can tell that Photoshop was used. Not all the photos I use photoshop on hold up to this goal, but I still try to achieve it every time.

It's the "create" word that causes most debates. So the question becomes.... When a photographer "creates" in photoshop is the finished image the result of a photographer, graphic artist, or artist??

Why does it matter? This is a hobby, a pastime, a relaxation - if what you do gives you pleasure what added value does incessant and non-productive analysis provide? Go and take some pictures!
